Back to work

It’s always hard to come back after holidays but with Christmas and our annual holiday being back to back it feels like I’ve been away for months not weeks! I’ve been wading through my emails and I think I’ve got it under control but don’t quote me. :) There’s been lots going on behind the scenes here, both on a personal and work front. I’m behind on so much and will be doing the best I can to get back up to speed by the end of the week. Of course there’s the long awaited release of Truth or Dare this week to shout about plus some really great news in the form of reviews, interviews and nominations. I think I’ll do the reviews first.

Miranda over at Joyfully Reviewed has written a great review for Coyote Whispers. You can check out the full review HERE but here’s a little piece I liked -

“I just loved Rhian Cahill’s spectacular action sequences! I felt like I was right in the middle of it all!”

Thanks Miranda!

Two reviews have come in for Truth or Dare and the book isn’t even out yet! I’m so thrilled Miki, Dayne and Grant have received such great comments so far.

DiDi over at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews gave Truth or Dare  five stars. You can read the full review HERE and of course I’m going to share a snippet with you :)

“I was impressed by the fact that Ms. Cahill brought up something in this book that I have not seen in many menage books…..The fact that she wrote about Dayne feeling Grant’s hand touch his genitals, the guys touching each other during sex, not really intentional, but just in the throes of passion or in cuddling around Mikki and their thoughts about it, makes the intimate scenes believable……SO MAJOR PROPS to Ms. Cahill for writing about it.”

Thank you DiDi!

Over at Long and Short Reviews – Erotic Romance, Foxglove gave Truth or Dare four starts and had lots of great things to say about the book. Read the full review HERE but this is the bit I really liked -

“This is for all those readers who like their romance in threes, and spicy hot. One warning, though, you’ll need the tissues and the ice in equal measure.”

Thank you Foxglove!

I’m a featured author over at The Romance Studio this month. You can check out the interview HERE!

Now for the big *squee* moment. I’ve been nominated twice for the Australian Romance Readers Awards again this year! Last year was for two books in the same category, this year I’m up in two different categories. All Of You is nominated in the Favorite Erotic Romance category and Coyote Hunger has been nominated in the Favorite Continuing Romance Series category. I’m so thrilled by both of these nominations and I’m especially looking forward to the awards dinner in February. You can see all the nominations HERE and if you’re a member of ARRA don’t forget to vote.

My head is still spinning from all the wonderful news I’ve gotten since Christmas. It’s been a brilliant start to 2012.

Rhian

Merry Christmas!

We’re already knee deep in presents at the in-laws house. We were up early ripping into our own before loading presents into the car and heading out for the day. I hope, like me, you get to spend the day with family and friends enjoying way too much food.

From the Cahill tribe to you and yours, we wish you a happy, safe Christmas and New Year.

Rhian

Chaos Rules!

Where’s Maxwell when I need him? Or maybe just the cone of silence? *sigh*

I honestly don’t remember Christmas ever being this stressful. Not even when the tribe were little did I feel this out of control. It’s like I’m digging a hole in the sand. The more I shovel out the move slides back in. There’s the usual Christmas to-do list plus the writing to-do list and neither seems to be getting shorter no matter how many things I scratch off. This whole week has flown by and now it’s Friday again (well it will be in a few hours) and we’re a week closer to ‘the visit‘ and I’m still not ready for that. Princess One and I ventured out to the shops today and it took us half an hour to get into the parking lot never mind find an empty spot. By the time we’d done that I was exhausted and we hadn’t made it into any shops yet! We did walk away with too many bags to count and credit cards that whimpered from abuse but we’re that much closer. Oh, and I finally got my Christmas cards posted. Yay me!

Tomorrow and Saturday are writing days. I’m doing a few household chores tonight and first thing in the morning but then I’ll be bum-down-fingers-on-keyboard writing, writing, writing. I have to finish the polish/edit (aka slash’n'burn) on SSS and then it’s full steam ahead on STB. I’m hoping to get STB done before Christmas so that I can finally get back to the coyotes. Really need to tell Brady and Kat’s story. And then there’s the other coyote story that needs to be written. Dale and Tatum were never in the plan but then I’ve never written to a plan. :) Kinda like my life.

Happy Birthday Princess One!

Yes, I know we did this three weeks ago. Twice! Hey, I didn’t plan to have three kids in the one month. :) Anyway….

Happy Birthday Chicken!

The downhill run.

No I’m not talking about skiing! It’s that part of the story where things come rushing at you at high speed and you have to zig or zag or splat! I had planned to be done by now but it took a little bit more effort than I thought it would to unwrite the corner my characters were in. Of course they had their own opinions of how that should be done and not one of us could agree sooooo……..I deleted them into seeing it my way. :D

I haven’t seen that much of the weekend so far but I have heard the driving rain beating against the roof of our back deck. The sun did show it’s face later today and it got rather warm, or so the Tribe tells me. I didn’t really leave my office except to go to the supermarket for food and it was freezing in there! You would think I’d learn to wear covered shoes and take a jacket but noooo, I have to freeze my ass off ever damn time. *sigh* Never let it be said I don’t sacrifice for this Tribe.

Okay, back to the cave. All right, fine, I’m going to bed early. But I’ll be up and back at it in the morning. Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.

Rhian

Murphy always wins.

Damn him!

Why is it that every single time I’m on a deadline the whole world needs my attention? Huh? WHY??!!! *cries*

First The Kid got sick, then WWIII broke out inside the house and finally the dreaded Christmas list check. *big sigh* I know, I know, *whispers* it could be worse.

As of now I’m on lockdown until this thing is done! If you see me on the net or twitter or facebook or anywhere other than in my chair yell at me. Or better yet, ignore me. If no one talks to me I’ll soon go away…..no wait, I’m usually okay talking to myself…..:)

Okay, back to the writing cave. See you when I get out. Hopefully later today. If not tomorrow. Definitely by tomorrow night.

Let them eat cake!

OMG! Last night we went to a 40th b’day party where the cake looked like this -

Totally cool. (even though my photography skills suck. :) )

The birthday girl had a great night. So did Mr.C and the rest of the car load I transported. *sigh* Yes, designated driver, that’s me. Anyway, today I feel like I’m hungover and I didn’t even drink! In my defense though we did stand the WHOLE time we were there. My back is killing me. ugh!

Okay, enough with the whining. Off to do some work.

Rhian

ETA (because Susan asked) – Yes, apparently it tasted better than it looked. Sadly I was unable to sample it as it was made using wheat flour. :cries:

Wordless Wednesday

Yep. That was me today. *sigh*

So let me tell you how my day went. We woke up late. The Kid and Princess & the Pea were late for school. I forgot to put the washing on before I showered so it wasn’t ready to hang out before I had to leave with Princess One for the city. We drove to the train station and proceed to drive around in circles looking for a parking spot only to watch our train pull in to the station and leave before we found the non-existent empty spot. Knowing the next train wouldn’t get us to the city on time we decided to drive in. (I hate driving in Sydney. It sux!) I looked down and noticed Princess One did not have enough petrol to get us there. Detour to petrol station. Leave petrol station with screaming credit card. Surprisingly our drive in was smooth. Then we hit the city streets. And stopped. Moved an inch. Stopped. Moved an inch. Stopped. You get the idea. I ended up having to eject Princess One while waiting in traffic. She wasn’t too thrilled with the idea but I managed to convince her it was the only option. Fifteen minutes later I pulled into a parking station and proceeded to walk the ten blocks back to where I’d ejected Princess One. I wandered around the shops for a whole five minutes when she rang to say she was ready to head home. We walked the ten blocks back to her car (with her whinging the whole way) to start the drive home. It took twice as long to get home. Why is it that every idiot has to be on the road when I am? And what’s with the people who have no idea they have indicators? You know, the blinking lights that let people know what you’re about to do whether it’s safe to do so or not?

*deep sigh*

I think I know why I prefer to stay inside with my ass planted safely in my desk chair.

Rhian

Has it really been that long?

Today is Son#1′s birthday. He’s 22. When did that happen? I’m not sure I was there for all of those years……anyway

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SON#1!!!

Rhian <– who deserves a reward for not killing him :)

Where did the week go?

If anyone knows where Thursday and Friday are could you point them out please? Oh, and Saturday too. *sigh*

It’s almost 8pm on Saturday and I haven’t written a word since Wednesday. I’m really not sure where all those hours went or what I did with them but I am sure it wasn’t finishing the wip I wanted done by today. And tomorrow I won’t get any words down as we’re off on a family adventure. By family I mean the extended family and by adventure I mean this -

 010_illawarra-fly-opneing 184_if illawarrafly_deekramer_111 k-small

It’s called the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk and you can check it out HERE! I’ll be taking the camera and if my legs stop shaking long enough for me to snap some pix I’ll blog them and about our adventure next week. Of course I may still chicken out…….
