I love the buildings in Singapore. There’s a mix of old and new everywhere you go.
I love the older buildings the most. They have character and history and I can imagine all the people who’ve used them, what they’ve been used for. What I really love is the way the old isn’t torn down to make way for the new. They just build around them. (and yes in that last pic the high-rise is gold!)
What’s your city/town like? Do you have new and old, all new, all old? Curious minds want to know. ๐

My city has torn down much of the old and built newer buildings. I love seeing the old and learning about its history. Thank you for sharing these lovely buildings.
Oh that’s a shame, Eileen. I’m like you. I love learning about the history behind the building.
Not at all what I imagine Singaore to look like. Thanks for sharing.
My town is old. Period. No high rises, no big shopping centers, just plain old. We do have some amazing historical homes that date back to the civil war era. Most of them are now on the historical register and are just for tours/visitors, etc. Historical courthouse sits in the middle of the town square and it is something special. Wish I had a picture to share.
All in all it’s not a bad place to live. But then again, I live way out in the country on a dirt/gravel road with only the little critters for company. I’m a true country girl and wouldn’t have it any other way. Don’t mind the newer, more modern areas, but they’re definitely not for us.
I think I really need to come visit you Shirley. I love the idea of wandering around an old town and learning the history behind it. Where you lives sounds like a fantastic place to visit. And I could probably go for living some where down a dirt/gravel road. I’m not a ‘city’ person in spite of living all my life in one. ๐
Sorry, I forgot one thing. We even have brick streets around the town square. Historical bricks that were under pavement that had been laid down years ago. All that was taken up and now we have a really pretty, but kind of bumpy, rough brick town square.
OMG! I love that! There’s an area in Sydney called The Rocks, right under the harbour bridge that has cobblestone roads. I love wandering around them. It just feels different when you walk on them. Thank you for sharing what your town is like.
