Recently a reader pointed out one of my characters said something she wasn’t familiar with. I can’t remember the exact words but it was something like – your shout – and apparently this is an Aussie thing. So what does it mean? Well if you read the book I’d assume you were able to work it out by the situation the characters were in but seeing how it’s out of context here the translation is – your turn to buy the next drink or round – usually it’s referring to a beer but it applies to almost anything. Lunch, tea, coffee. Whatever. In fact my friend Ainslie Paton are always arguing over who’s shout it is when we get together for lunch. 🙂
