Milestones and Celebrations
It’s 2 years to the day since I started radiation.
Is it just me or does it seem way longer than 2 years?
I had my oncology check up yesterday. I’ve been on 6 mth checks and I went into yesterday’s appointment hoping I’d finally graduate to yearly checks.
Can I say I love my oncologist? I mean, I loved him before because he’s great, answers all my questions and soothes my concerns with facts I can understand and I always leave his office feeling good.
But yesterday I wanted to dance out of there. I swear, I was getting funny looks from everyone I walked by.
I’M ON YEARLY CHECK UPS!!!!
And this time (for the first time since my original appointments) I had someone with me. Shana Gray, fellow author and friend is visiting me here in Singapore for three weeks. We’re one week in and I know this has been exactly what I needed.
The disconnect I’ve felt to writing (and life at times) has left me with little enthusiasm to write but knowing Shana was coming and now that she’s here I’ve been filled with excitement and words! I’ve written more in the last two months than I’ve written this entire year.
I haven’t reached out to anyone for therapy yet. (I will be once Shana heads home.) But I started journaling. I figured if I wasn’t going to be doing it here I should do it somewhere else. I’ve had this gorgeous note book, embossed with MeMa the Gbabies gave me a few years ago and I’ve always been hesitant to use it.
Not any more!
I’m writing in it daily and I’ve printed off a free download from Happy Planner that’s for weekly goals and I tape (washi of course!) those pages in at the beginning of the week. I’m enjoying it and if I don’t feel like writing much I don’t and if I do, I do.
I’m a recent Happy Planner convert and am waiting for the arrival of some of their planners, in particular a memory keeping one.
Mr.C and I are planning some big trips in the next few years and I want to keep the memories we make in a way I can go back over them when the mood strikes. I rarely go into my photos app to look at pix from the past but I think if I’ve got a book I’ve decorated and stuck pix in I’m more likely to because it will be sitting on my coffee table or a bookcase close by.
That brings me to another recent purchase. A Sprocket. For those who don’t know, it’s a tiny printer you can carry in your pocket to print photos with. It came yesterday and I played around with it this morning but I can’t wait to dive in and use it for all those memories I’m planning to keep.
Do you do something like Happy Planner’s memory keeper? What about scrapbooking? That was a huge thing a few years ago and while I never did it I know people who did and I loved looking through their pages. It’s probably why I like the idea of memory keeping. It’s kinda the same but on a smaller scale maybe. Then again, you could probably do it in any size.
For right now, I’m practicing my memory keeping in my everyday planner. I’d show you a pic of that but as I said, I’m practicing. And I’m doing that for a reason. I ain’t that good. LOL
Maybe I’ll get good enough (aka brave enough) to show you all some time. For now, I’ll keep practicing.
In the meantime, any hints or tricks you all know about memory keeping or scrapbooking or whatever you call it let me know in the comments.

YAY!!! YAY to yearly check-ups!! You are definitely moving in the right direction!!
