We’re talking comfort food today because I’ve just spent a week on the couch suffering from man/toddler flu and let me tell you that shit’s lethal. No wonder men and toddlers whinge and moan and carry on as though the world is ending. It bloody well is! I can’t even say I was that sick it just felt like it and I’m still dragging ass around the place. My brain is like thick soup and it feels like I haven’t slept in a month and I can attest to the fact I’ve pretty much slept my way through the month so far. 🙁

The worst part is it didn’t hit me right away, I honestly thought I’d escaped the crud that most of the family had while we were in Sydney. The day after we arrived home I did the usual unpacking, washing, getting myself back in the routine with a mild headache (often happens after I fly) and a bit of a raw throat (again, flying dries everything out and this is normal) living in blissful ignorance of the approaching man/toddler flu. Until 3am Tuesday morning when I woke in a fevered sweat and aching all over. In my fevered state I wondered if maybe Mr.C had taken to me with a baseball bat at some point during the night. Not a pleasant thought.

Dragging ass out of bed later that morning I managed to throw together a pot of chicken soup. It looked a little like this –

This isn’t it (hello! barely managed to cook the damn soup! never mind take a pic) and of course I didn’t have bread because gluten free but this is kind of like it.

Chicken soup when you’re sick is the best! Homemade chicken soup even better. The only thing that could have topped it was if someone else had made it for me. 🙂 So I spent a week on the couch eating chicken soup for breakfast (yes I really did), lunch and dinner. It helped. So did the comfort reads I pulled of my keeper shelf. Thanks to chicken and veg, and Nora Roberts I’m back on my feet and attempting to assimilate back into the world.

Tell me, what’s your comfort food?
